Are you going to have an objective or subjective approach? Are you going to limit your argument to torque converter driven automatics, or are you going to include CVTs and ‘automated manuals’?

It depends on the specific transmission. Some manuals are awful and some are good. Some automatics are awful and some are good. It also depends on the engine and associate car. A manual is more immersive, making the driver a more integral part of the driving experience, but “better”, no.

Manual options tend to be cheaper (mainstream cars, for example), you can get better fuel economy with a manual, and most car thieves don’t know how to drive stick. Those are the points I currently have.

Agree on the cheaper cost. Fuel economy is not so much anymore. Modern automatics get better fuel mileage. Right about the thieves. I would consider adding something about how the manual makes the driver more involved with the function of the car thus limiting distractions. Good luck.
